The Drane House, built in 1798, is the oldest standing structure in Garrett County, Maryland. Owned by the Town of Accident, this historic log house offers a glimpse into early frontier life when this region was part of America’s western frontier.
The Accident Drane House Association, Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, is leading the restoration and preservation efforts to maintain this historical landmark as an educational resource for generations to come.

We are dedicated to restoring, preserving, and maintaining the Drane House, ensuring it remains a valuable historical and educational site. Our goal is to provide an authentic representation of early settler life and to make the Drane House accessible to visitors through events, guided tours, and educational programs.
